Where to find the best brunch in Stockholm

I spend A LOT of time before I visit a city working out where the best places will be for me to brunch when I’m in town. It’s the most important meal of the day, so you definitely don’t want to get it wrong! Thankfully, Stockholm has some great spots to get your day started right. Here is the best brunch in Stockholm plus a great third option I think you should try as well.

Pom & Flora

Considering the rave reviews about Pom & Flora, I expected the queue to be out the door! Yet despite it being after 11am on a sunny Saturday, there were still a couple of tables inside and a generally chilled vibe to the whole place. You can grab any free table you see and then queue at the counter to place your order. There were about four or five small tables outside and then about 7 tables inside, most of which would fit 3-4 people around them. The menu is written in Swedish on a long reel of butchers paper behind the counter (above) but there was also a print out of the menu in English attached to the front of the counter (below). The staff were very pleasant and chatted happily with me in English about my order.

Stockholm is an expensive city, especially when it comes to eating out, so I was very surprised at how affordable the food was here! I had the ‘Frukostförslag’ (the ‘Suggested Breakfast’ which was like their brunch deal), which included egg and avocado on toast, yoghurt with berries, toasted nuts and honey plus a coffee for only 115 SEK (roughly £11 currently), which is extremely good value, especially for Stockholm. And the food was INCREDIBLE! So tasty and amazing! I wanted to lick the yoghurt bowl clean I was that in love with the flavours.

They also had free wifi, so we ended up staying for an extra coffee and enjoying the good vibes. Although it’s not listed on their menu, they had gluten-free bread available which was lovely. They also had oat milk as a dairy alternative for their coffees and smoothies. The menu was predominantly vegetarian with one vegan breakfast option (banana and peanut butter on toast). There are ham and cheese croissants for those needing a meat fix and I sampled the creamed caviar that came with my friend’s boiled egg and it was lush. This is the perfect spot for a chilled, healthy brunch and I will definitely be back at Pom & Flora on my next trip to Stockholm!

Greasy Spoon

Normally I wouldn’t be very keen on an English-themed cafe in a foreign city but Greasy Spoon gets the mix just right. This all-day brunch spot is EXTREMELY popular, so make sure you plan to get there well before 11am on weekends (or ensure your hangover is strong enough to ensure you can’t get out of bed before 2pm) otherwise you will have a lengthy wait. We originally tried to visit here just after 11am on Saturday (despite the warning on their website that this was a peak time) and were told it would be over an hour’s wait. Their system is good if you are happy (and not too hungry) to queue – just add your name to the list and they will give you a specific time to come back. We were starving, so opted to check out the nearby Pom & Flora and returned Sunday morning bright and early. There are about four small tables outside and over ten tables inside, some suitable for larger groups (although it would be hard to bring a big group here as they don’t take reservations).

The menu is in English and full of Western brunch staples, such as pancakes, Eggs Benedict and Full English. I opted for the vibrant Pink Rosti and my friend had Eggs Florentine, both of which were served super quickly and were really tasty. Including coffee, the price came to nearly 200SEK (about £20) each, which is pretty standard for Stockholm prices. The menu has a number of vegetarian options, even two vegan ones, alongside a number of meaty ones. They have a gluten-free bread and use cornflour to make their rosti so it is a gluten-free option too. The pancakes also looked amazing – I would definitely have ordered them if I could eat them! This is a great option after a mega night partying in Stockholm – perfect hangover cure.

Cafe Pascal

It’s such a shame I didn’t make it to Cafe Pascal, especially as I was staying only a few blocks from it at the new Generator Hostel. The cafe was opened about 2 years ago by three siblings, with a huge focus on good quality, well-sourced coffee, along with a strong menu of sandwiches and baked goods. For brunch, you can choose between eggs, ham or cheese on bread or a full breakfast, with a pastry plus granola and yoghurt. It’s roughly 150SEK (currently £15). It doesn’t look very gluten-free friendly, but for everyone else, this could be the perfect brunch spot if you’re staying in the north of Stockholm. You only have to take a look at their Instagram account to get drooling.

They have a number of tables outside for sunny days and an abundance of space inside their beautifully presented cafe, with exposed bricks and beautiful tiles. I will definitely be making a beeline to this beautiful spot on my next trip to Stockholm!
